Mapping Ireland's Records  (Program)
10:00 am to 11:00 am
The Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO and Zoom

In this presentation, renown genealogist John Grenham will explore ways in which visualising the locations through maps with surnames in Catholic records, valuations, census records, and records of births, marriages and deaths can help with genealogy and local history. John will provide vivid examples of just how local some names are and how impossibly widespread others can be. All the records discussed are free online and form part of the basis of almost all nineteenth-century Irish research.

Although this presentation will give some of the technical background involved in creating the maps, it will mostly focus on their use and on how they shed light on Irish surnames and Irish families.

Attendance Options: In person at The Library Center or by Zoom.  Members will receive a Zoom link by email or find the link at ozarksgs.org > programs. Members must login for access.
